Test

Test

Not like anyone cares, but the above "Test" was me seeing if the text message blogging from my cell phone that I set up works. It does. I'm planning on posting regular updates on my bike trip progress to this blog, complete with snazzy pictures. I'm also hoping to be able to text message more regular updates from my phone when I'm not around a computer. In order to keep my phone charged without having to find outlets, I got a Sidewinder cell phone charger. The connection with my phone is a bit finnicky, but hopefully I can get it working OK.

Mountain skating, yeah!!

I went hiking the other day with a couple of friends, John and April, up Near Point, a local peak in Anchorage. The conditions have been horribly icy, so when we got to the trailhead the parking lot was like an ice rink. I naturally pulled out the old blades, and had some fun skating around the lot. I decided to continue skating along the trail with April and John hiking, bringing my boots along for when I decided to hike. Behold, mountain skating was born!! I eventually abandoned them in the bushes in favor of my boots, but strapped them back on for the fun and fast ride down. When this is an Olympic sport in 10 years, remember, kids, you saw it here first.
